Korean Air's Fuel Surcharge Update
Korean Air, a leading airline in the industry, is committed to providing transparency and timely updates to its valued customers. As part of this commitment, they would like to announce an important update regarding the fuel surcharge, which is a component of air transportation costs.
Effective July 1, 2023, Korean Air will be adjusting its fuel surcharge rates for air waybills (AWBs) issued in select countries. This adjustment reflects the recent changes in the cost of jet fuel and ensures the continued provision of high-quality services to our passengers.
Fuel Surcharge Rates
Please find below the updated fuel surcharge rates applicable to specific routes:
USA to all destinations: USD 1.20/kg
Canada to all destinations: CAD 1.65/kg
Mexico to all destinations: USD 1.25/kg
Mexico to Canada: USD 1.00/kg
MIA to South America: USD 1.00/kg
Central/South America to Asia: USD 1.25/kg
Inter-Americas: USD 1.00/kg
HNL to all destinations: USD 1.20/kg
HNL to NRT: USD 0.70/kg
Fuel Surcharge Guidelines
To ensure clarity and understanding, please take note of the following guidelines:
The fuel surcharge is calculated based on the chargeable weight, including minimum charge shipments.
The applicable fuel surcharge rates are determined based on the flight date (KE Flight Date) rather than the AWB issuance date.
The fuel surcharge code "MYC" will be included, along with the corresponding amounts, in the "Other Charges" and "Due Carrier" fields of the AWB.
Important Information
The above-mentioned fuel surcharge increase will be effective as of July 1, 2023.
